Skywords Traffic Network signs its first television station affiliate

    Durham, February 20, 2024 - Skywords Traffic Network is pleased to announce the launch of live televised traffic reporting services during “Durham Today” on CHEX Channel 12 in Oshawa, Ontario. Traffic reports will be streamed live via web cam from Skywords Traffic headquarters in Markham, Ontario.

    Long time host of “First Take” on Channel 12 CHEX T.V. Durham and Durham resident Dan Carter, is very excited about the new partnership. “Teaming up with Skywords Traffic Network is the biggest announcement that channel 12 has ever made. The combination of the new technology and the expertise of the Skywords staff makes this partnership very exciting and informative to the over 500 000 viewers in the Durham region. This is a television first for the station the region and even in Ontario.”

    Skywords Operations Manager, Frank Torres says, “…we are very pleased to launch our television product with Channel 12 CHEX T.V. Durham. Average travel time for Durham region commuters is among the highest in the country. Now Channel 12 CHEX T.V. viewers will know up to the second traffic information including live lane incidents and construction delays. We are very proud of this technology and look forward to further development and refinement with CHEX T.V.”

    The Durham region is one of the fastest growing regions in Ontario. Channel 12 CHEX T.V. Durham realizes that the Durham region needs it’s own voice and that’s what CHANNEL12 CHEX T.V. Durham provides. Channel 12 CHEX T.V. Durham is one of the only local stations in Canada that still produces “in-house” local television programming per week-over 13 hours.

    Skywords Traffic Network is the largest independent radio Network in Canada, providing programming including traffic and weather information to over 60 radio stations across Canada and the U.S. and now live television reports as well.
