    Sony introduces entry-level multi-format switcher
Flexible switcher for studio and live applications offers migration path to High Definition

TORONTO, Ontario - Sony of Canada Ltd., Canada's leading supplier of electronic and computer products for consumers and business, today announced that it is adding a high-performance, cost-effective multi-format switcher/digital multi effects (DME) unit to its family of production switchers.

The new MFS-2000 model builds upon the leading-edge technologies developed for Sony's MVS-8000/DVS-9000 production switcher family and its introduction further extends the family to include a small-format, entry-level member.

The new switcher is designed for broadcast, corporate and educational, live and post-production applications as well as mobile news units that are tight on space but still need strong effects capabilities. It is also ideal for sports and entertainment venue managers who are migrating to HD (High Definition) and are looking for a full-featured switcher to maintain the high-quality production values they have previously enjoyed in the SD domain.
