Mr. Ghiz has nearly 20 years of experience in government affairs and public policy, including 12 years in elected office. He was a twice-elected Premier of Prince Edward Island, with an additional four years’ experience as Leader of the Opposition. Robert is an articulate communicator with a long career record of successful collaboration and negotiation.

“We are very pleased to welcome Robert to the Association,” said CWTA Chair Garry Fitzgerald. “Canadians are leading the world in maximizing the commercial and social benefits of wireless technology. Robert’s extensive experience with all levels of government, as well as his well-earned reputation for forging strong strategic partnerships, will help ensure the wireless industry can continue to invest and innovate so Canadians can maximize the value of their wireless experience.”

Since leaving politics, Mr. Ghiz has been serving as Business Adviser at Gowling WLG and has recently been appointed to the Board of Directors of Ducks Unlimited, the True Patriot Love Foundation and Medavie Blue Cross.

Mr. Ghiz takes over the leadership of the industry association from Bernard Lord, who departed CWTA earlier this year after eight years at the helm. “Bernard’s contributions to empowering more Canadians to use wireless to do more are too many to be counted,” said Fitzgerald. “We extend our best wishes for his continued success.”
