VANCOUVER - Russ Froese, host of Citytv Vancouver's CityPulse News at 6 p.m., announced today he will be leaving the station.

The highly-respected news veteran has been with the channel, formerly CKVU, since 1988.

"Russ has made an enormous contribution to the newsroom at CKVU and, most recently, to the newly-launched CityPulse News,," said Lisa Green, news director at Citytv Vancouver. "He is an extremely well-regarded journalist; he will be missed by the entire team."

"My time with the station has been rewarding both professionally and personally. Now, after 15 years, it's time to pursue other opportunities, including documentaries and similar projects," said Froese. "I will miss my colleagues here tremendously and I wish them much success as Citytv grows."

Russ started his career in broadcasting as a news reporter at CKNW Radio in 1972. He began television reporting with BCTV in 1977, then moved to the CBC in 1980. There, as a journalist and producer for The Journaland Midday, he produced more than 70 documentaries. Well-recognized for his excellence in journalism and for his commitment to community involvement, Russ has earned numerous awards for his work.

His last newscast on Citytv will be Thursday, June 5, 2024.
