TORONTO - Standard Radio's MIX 99.9 FM announced today that Humble Howard and Fred Patterson will debut next month as the new MIX morning show.

Humble & Fred were Corus Entertainment morning staples for years who were at their most popular while with The Edge 102 FM, and most recently were the morning hosts for Corus' Toronto AM flagship, 640 MOJO Radio, the self-described "talk radio for guys."

"When you look across this great country for the cream of the crop in morning show talent, Humble & Fred always come to mind. Having them kicking off our mornings is the perfect piece to take The MIX to a whole new level." said MIX 99.9 general manager Pat Holiday.

Humble & Fred will replace current hosts Griff Henderson and Judy Croon, who themselves are filling in for former morning host Carla Collins, whose show Carla & Co., departed over a month ago. Standard has not yet announced where they will end up, although Collins will likely retain an on-air role with the new show.

The move continues a shakeup rippling across the Toronto radio scene which as seen former pop and hip-hop station CISS FM become JACK FM – which has yet to name its talent – and long-time 98.1 CHFI host Erin Davis fired (see related story on this site) and her co-host Bob Magee shuffled inside Rogers Media, only to be replaced by former CISS voices Mad Dog & Billie.

Corus has yet to announce who will replace Humble & Fred at MOJO.

The Humble & Fred show has been on Toronto radio since 1989 and have been named the Best Morning Show in Canada four times by the Canadian Radio industry.

"We are excited about the opportunity to work with the amazing team at Standard. We hope to annoy as few people as possible, and will do our best to grow the morning show, entertain millions and take out the trash on the days we've been told to! Basically, we'll be doing the same show we've always done only this time we promise not to continually beg for listeners!!" said the duo in a release.

MIX 99.9 is one of Toronto's most listened to radio stations with almost 900,000 listeners per week and reaches more 18 to 44 year olds than any other station in Canada, says Standard.
