VICTORIA - The anchor chairs just keep spinning in the B.C. capital.
Fresh from losing a pair of journalists -
including anchor Hudson Mack - to CHUM upstart The New VI, CHEK Victoria announced today it has hired Ed Watson as its evening news anchor.
The former CTV B.C. bureau chief will begin his new role with CanWest Global's CH Victoria on October 4th.
"We are thrilled to have a journalist with a track record like Ed Watson. His addition to CH News will only strengthen CH's commitment to continue delivering the best news coverage on the Island," said CH news director Rob Germain in a press release.
"I'm excited to be joining CH", said Watson. "It's a news organization that has a lot of history on the island and it is by far the best news team on the island".
Prior to joining CH, Watson worked at CTV as the bureau chief for British Columbia. His role also included field reporting for CTV Network, anchoring and live reporting. He was also a video-journalist for CH Television, CHEK 6 as it was known then, from 1992 to 1997. Prior to that he was a reporter, political correspondent and Anchor of Nightfinal at CBC Vancouver and Calgary.
