SASKATOON - The New Democratic Party of Saskatchewan and the CBC are checking with their lawyers after footage from a recent TV debate was used in an election ad, reports the Saskatoon Star Phoenix newspaper.

The province is in the middle of an election campaign and after a recent leaders' debate, the NDP used footage from it for an ad which then aired on Global TV in the province.

According to the newspaper, the CBC says all three parties agreed they wouldn't use debate clips for campaign purposes and that it owns copyright to the video. The NDP says no such deal was made and it is within its rights to run the ad however, when a complaint was registered by the Saskatchewan Party (the election front-runners), Global pulled the ad.
