TORONTO - Beginning today, MOJO Radio AM640 is the new home for one of the city's most outspoken personalities.

Former Toronto Police Union president Craig Bromell will be walking a new beat this morning, joining Ross Macleod as host of "The Beat", which will air weekdays from 10 a.m. to noon.

"We are thrilled to have Craig joining the MOJO RADIO team", said program director, Scott Armstrong. "His knowledge of the city from his intimate workings with all levels of government in addition to his feel for the street as a beat cop will add unique perspective to MOJO. Craig really cares about Toronto and the show will focus on the big issues that Torontonians are talking about."

Bromell spent six sometimes tumultuous years at the helm of Toronto's police union after his 17 year career as a constable in 51 division. During his two terms as arguably the most popular union boss, Bromell made no bones about his run-ins with police services management and former mayor Mel Lastman and other politicians.

"I've spent a lot of years working with the city and the police union to try to create positive solutions for Toronto. I see this new opportunity as a way to continue those efforts. Asking tough questions and demanding answers is the only way to make things happen," said Bromell.
