TORONTO - Canadian music download service Puretracks today launched its online music store in the United States.
The U.S. launch comes one year after Puretracks established Canada's first and leading licensed music download service.
Puretracks downloads, available initially through Windows Media Player 10, are delivered in 192Kbps Windows Media Audio, "providing customers superior sound quality compared with competing download services," says the company's press release.
Puretracks is a web-based application that does not require customers to install a download player, providing a refined and highly accessible service.
Puretracks arrives in the U.S. as an established developer of custom business solutions for ISPs, retailers, music labels, consumer brands and artist web sites. The service delivers a range of corporate solutions, from co-branded online music stores to custom marketing solutions.

Puretracks U.S. offers 192K WMA digital tracks for US$0.99 and digital albums for US$9.99.
Puretracks also provides co-branded services to Bell Canada and Telus, as well as AOL Canada, and Standard Broadcasting. Puretracks is owned and operated by Toronto-based Moontaxi Media Inc. (in which Standard is a minority owner) a leading North American online music distributor dedicated to delivering high quality music content in both streaming and download formats.
