Montreal, - CHUM Television, together with the National Film Board of Canada, have announced that the Expression Awards/Les Prix Expression, sponsored by the Department of Canadian Heritage, will be held in Ottawa on April 22-23, as part of the Minister's Forum on Diversity and Culture
The gala awards show, which will take place in the Great Hall of the Canadian Museum of Civilization, will be produced by CHUM Television and taped as a one-hour television special to be broadcast on CHUM stations across Canada including MuchMusic, MusiquePlus, Star!, Bravo! and others on June 27, National Multiculturalism Day. The show will be available for telecast by other Canadian broadcasters as well, to be announced at a later date.
The Expression Awards were created to celebrate diversity in the arts and media, across Canada. For this year's inaugural show and gala, four remarkable men and women who have made their singular voices heard will be recognized as Trailblazers/Eclaireurs, and will be honoured with Awards. The recipients were selected by a peer Advisory Committee that included three members of the Steering Committee of the Minister's Forum.
The gala evening will be feature music performed by exceptional new artists representing the vibrant diversity of Canadian culture. The 1 hour 40 minute gala will highlight the contributions of cultural innovators - musicians, comedians, artists, entertainers, filmmakers, and dancers.
