WINNIPEG - CanWest Global's interactive division has begin offering an array of online products which by mid-2004 will combine content from its television, newspaper and online properties.
CanWest says that this service, which will be subscription based, along with its other products, will enable advertisers target their preferred demographics.
Also for web-based subscribers, CanWest will be offering full electronic versions of its papers across the country and will deliver them by 5:00 a.m. each morning.
The first move will come on November 30th, when the Ottawa Citizen web site will require a seven-day print subscription to in order to view online material taken directly from the print newspaper. The online version of the National Post assume this format by the end of 2003, with the remaining CanWest city dailies following suit in the second quarter of 2004.
The inclusion of CanWest's TV content in the subscription-based online offering will come later next year.
The current canada.com site, which contains news briefs and headlines, will continue to be a free service.
