VANCOUVER - With the reality of an NHL lockout looming, MOJO SportsRadio 730 today announced that former Vancouver Canucks owner Arthur Griffiths will join the station's on-air roster on Monday August 30th to host a daily program on the NHL labour situation.
Griffiths will occupy the 10 to 11 a.m. slot, Monday through Friday on MOJO with his unique insider's view on owner/player negotiations and the collective bargaining agreement.
Canadian sports pages are filled daily with reports on the progress, or lack thereof, of talks between the National Hockey League owners and players. Most expect a lockout and a shortened if not completely cancelled 2004-05 season.
"With his extensive list of contacts on both sides of the negotiations, Arthur will bring our audience coverage that simply won't exist anywhere else," said Tom Plasteras MOJO's program director. "We're very excited to be bringing such an inside perspective of this situation to our listeners."
Griffiths has many years of experience in pro sports as the former chairman, CEO and president of Orca Bay Sports & Entertainment, owner of the Vancouver Canucks and GM Place, and he helped develop the NHL's current CBA. Griffiths was also the chair of the 2010 Olympic Bid society, which paved the way for Vancouver's successful bid to host the 2010 Winter Olympics.
