"Music Without Borders" benefit to be rebroadcast
9/25/2001

Toronto - All partners within the Canadian broadcast fundraising initiative, "Music Without Borders" - which took place last Sunday September 23rd - wish to commend youth who donated and got involved, and gave to The Red Cross in the amount of $65, 200 to date. This total represents Canadian telephone donations only.

Understandably, technologies at The Red Cross are overloaded at this time, and they are unable to give us a breakdown / total for additional online and U.S telephone donations received.

A variety of television and radio partners broadcast the live 5-hour benefit concert and discussion forum which featured a wide variety of musical guests - Nelly Furtado, Live, Barenaked Ladies, Shaggy, Sarah McLachlan (from Vancouver), Gord Downie & Dinner Is Ruined w/ Julie Doiron, The Tea Party, Baby Blue Soundcrew, Treble Charger, SUM 41, Chantal Kreviazuk and Raine Maida along with celebrities Jason Priestley, Dave Foley, Doug Gilmour, Olympian Simon Whitfield and Raptors stars Maurice Peterson and Jerome Williams.

THE EFFORT CONTINUES...

To compensate for widespread cable television outages across Ontario during the event (nearly 2.5 hours), MuchMusic and MuchMoreMusic will air a 4-hour edited version of "Music Without Borders" tomorrow, Wednesday, September 26th from 6-10pm ET to appeal to viewers that did not have the opportunity to donate. The public may help by dialing The Red Cross at 1-800-418-1111 or by donating at any major bank or Red Cross office.

In addition, the following radio partners will be broadcasting 60 min. "Music Without Borders" fundraising specials - featuring music from the original live broadcast - in the days to come. Partial broadcast times only available at this release.
