Following today's announcement by the Canadian
Television Fund, Astral Media's The Movie Network and Corus
Entertainment's Movie Central are pleased to report that they have received financial support for all of their CTF funding applications in the English-language drama stream for returning series.

"The Movie Network has experienced tremendous success with our Canadian original drama series to date with programs such as ReGenesis and Slings & Arrows," says Michelle Marion, Director, Canadian Independent Production, The
Movie Network. "We are thrilled to be able to build on the success of last year's slate of original dramas with new seasons of these series. Producing high-quality, entertaining, Canadian drama series is a priority for The Movie Network and we are delighted to be able to present another stellar year of Canadian programming."

"Movie Central is delighted with today's announcement. Our goal of providing Canadian dramatic series that meet and excel the expectations of our most discriminating Pay-TV viewer has been embraced. Only Pay-TV can present this type of original programming in its purest creative form, without commercial interruption. We're thrilled that we can move forward with the CTF supporting all three of our shows" says Shelley Gillen, Head of Creative and Business Affairs, Movie Central.

The Movie Network and Movie Central projects that have received CTF funding, premiering on The Movie Network and Movie Central in the coming year include:

- REGENESIS (Season 2)
In the second season of this 13-part series, molecular biologist Dr. David Sandstrom and his team at the North American Biotechnology Advisory Commission (NorBAC), an organization formed to investigate questionable advances in biotechnology, seek the truth to the ethical, legal and moral consequences of scientific progress. The series stars Peter Outerbridge and Maxime Roy and is produced by Shaftesbury Films Inc. Developed in association with The Movie Network and Movie Central, the second season premieres in March 2006, followed by a second-window broadcast on Global.

- SLINGS & ARROWS (Season 3)
The New Burbage Theatre Festival's Artistic Director Geoffrey Tennant struggles to stage King Lear with an aging lead actor whose eccentric behaviour and failing health alienate him from the rest of the company. Starring Paul Gross, Martha Burns and Mark McKinney, Slings & Arrows is produced by Rhombus Media, in association with The Movie Network, Movie Central and Showcase. Season three premieres in summer 2006.

- G-SPOT (Season 2)
This eight-part contemporary comedy series returns for a second season to follow the romantic misadventures and career of Gigi, an actress whose early roles in critically-acclaimed films have since given way to an ever-growing repertoire of late-night B-movies. Starring Brigitte Bako, G-Spot is produced by Serendipity Point Films and Barna-Alper Productions in association with The Movie Network, Movie Central and Showcase. Season two premieres in winter 2006.
