CAB urges TV members to contact CRTC on DTH carriage
11/19/2001

The CAB is now drafting its submission regarding carriage of local stations by DTH undertakings in smaller markets.

In order to better inform the Commission about local broadcasters' particular situations and individual concerns, the CAB encourages all television members to write to the Commission directly. For example, local broadcasters should provide information on the impact of DTH in their particular market, and how existing DTH policy has impeded their ability to meet local programming commitments and other regulatory requirements. Local broadcasters should also outline what local and community services they provide in their markets. The deadline for filing comments is November 30, 2001.

Public Notice CRTC 2001-103 was issued on September 28, 2001. It is available at: http://www.crtc.gc.ca/archive/ENG/Notices/2001/PB2001-103.htm.
