The Edge Canadian Artists Selected by You (CASBY) Music Awards began in 1981 as the U-Knows, an alternative to the JUNO Awards. CASBY winners are chosen entirely by the fans. Through initiatives like the CASBYs, as well as Edgefest and Indie Online, 102.1 the Edge has earned a reputation as a major force in Canadian talent development, contributing to the commercial breakthrough of some of Canada’s most influential artists, including Billy Talent, Finger Eleven and many others.

The CASBYs were sponsored by Molson Canadian Red Leaf Project.
