It is with enthusiasm that Jacques Parisien, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Astral, and president of Astral Radio, joins the Task Force on Cultural Philanthropy, set up by Québec Premier Pauline Marois.
Presided by Pierre Bourgie, the task force has the mandate to provide the Québec government with potential solutions to help develop strategies to reinvigorate and renew cultural philanthropy in Québec. Recommendations are to be submitted to the government in May 2013.
“Our culture is both rich and unique, and is among the economic drivers of the province,” said Mr. Parisien. “I am pleased to join such a prestigious and dynamic group of people to help ensure the continuity of cultural philanthropy in Québec.”
In addition to Mr. Parisien, the Task Force on Cultural Philanthropy includes Sophie Brochu (Gaz Métro), Jo-Ann Kane (Collection Banque Nationale du Canada), Benoît Desjardins (Samson Bélair/Deloitte & Touche), Michel Labonté (Banque Nationale), Peter D. Simons (Maison Simons), Jonathan Tétrault (McKinsey & Company) and Pierre Côté (Ministry of Finance and State of the Economy), who will serve as the Task Force Secretary.
Jacques Parisien is been long-standing and active member of the cultural and business community in Montréal and Québec. Other than his participation in the Task Force on Cultural Philanthropy, Mr. Parisien is the Board president of the Pointe-à-Callière Museum, the Fondation de l’Institut de tourisme et d’hôtellerie du Québec, and the Société des célébrations du 375e anniversaire de Montréal.
