Citytv today announced the premieres of two new shows and three returning hit series to the midseason prime time lineup beginning Monday, Jan. 2.
The Citytv 2024 midseason prime time lineup features an entertaining mix of U.S.-acquired comedy series Work It and the spine-tingling drama Alcatraz, along with returning favourites The Bachelor, 30 Rock, and Who Do You Think You Are?

From Friends producers Andrew Reich and Ted Cohen comes Work It, a high-concept comedy about two unrepentant “guy’s guys” who, unable to find work, decide to dress as women to get jobs. Not only do they pull it off, but they just might learn to be better men in the process.
Synopsis:
Main characters Lee Standish (Ben Koldyke, Big Love), a quick-witted and likable family man, and his best friend, Angel Ortiz (Amaury Nolasco, Prison Break), a hotheaded ladies’ man with no filter, worked at Pontiac until the company went out of business. Out of work for a year, their job prospects don’t look too bright. They’ve learned the hard way that the current recession is more of a “man-cession” and that their skills aren’t in high demand. Then the almost-broke Lee finds out that Coreco Pharmaceuticals is looking to hire sales reps – albeit female sales reps. He takes a chance and goes into the interview dressed in heels, a skirt and make-up. The transformed Lee gets hired – but as a woman. Hearing from Lee what he has to do to land a job at Coreco, Angel
– who is miserable working at a fast food dump – is desperate to make a change and decides to swallow his pride and go for it. Unfortunately, he tanks his interview – but when he fixes the boss’s car, he too is hired.
Alcatraz (s/FOX)

This spine-tingling thriller centres on America’s most infamous prison, home to some of history’s most dangerous and deadly inmates. When a gruesome homicide turns up a shocking prime-suspect – an Alcatraz prisoner who died 30 years ago, but appears to be alive and un-aged – one detective, an Alcatraz expert, and a government agent set out to unravel the mystery behind his disappearance and reappearance.
Synopsis:
When San Francisco police detective Rebecca Madsen (Sarah Jones, Sons of Anarchy) is assigned to a vicious homicide, a fingerprint turns up an unlikely suspect – Jack Sylvane (Jeffrey Pierce, The Nine), an Alcatraz inmate who died 30 years earlier. Motivated by her family ties to the prison and intrigued by government agent Emerson Hauser’s (Sam Neill, The Tudors) attempts to hamper her investigation, she vows to uncover the truth. Madsen teams up with Alcatraz expert Dr. Diego “Doc” Soto (Jorge Garcia, Lost) to help navigate through what appears to be a series of impossible events. Together, they uncover a grisly truth: Sylvane is not only alive, but he hasn’t aged since 1963 and has taken to the streets to exact revenge. With bodies piling up from Sylvane’s reprisal, Madsen and Soto are forced to join forces with Hauser and his technician, Lucy Banerjee (Parminder Nagra, ER), to end his retribution. As their investigation leads them further into Alcatraz’s brutal and bloody history, they begin to uncover a string of government cover-ups. Before long they reach a menacing conclusion – Sylvane may be the first, but certainly won’t be the last to reappear from Alcatraz.
