CJAD 800 Teams Up with Montreal Impact

News Talk Radio CJAD 800 proudly announces the return of Montreal Impact live play-by-play action, as the club makes history in its Major League Soccer debut season.

CJAD 800 Vice President and General Manager Martin Spalding stated: “The rate of growth of soccer in North America has been staggering, and we have been impatiently sitting on the sidelines waiting for this opportunity to come. We would like to personally thank Joey Saputo for his vote of confidence, and we are thrilled to be partnering with the Impact and Major League Soccer. CJAD will handle play-by-play and will air the Impact’s local games. CHOM 97 7 and its sister station Virgin Radio 96 will be the team’s promotional partners.”

CJAD has also announced its Montreal Impact broadcast crew. CJAD Sports Director Rick Moffat will handle play-by-play duties. Moffat has extensive play-by-play experience as the longtime voice of the Montreal Alouettes and Montreal Canadiens. Joining Moffat in the booth will be former Impact star striker Grant Needham. Needham played for the Impact between 1993 and 1998 and has served the organization in various capacities since hanging up his cleats.

The Impact’s first-ever MLS match will be broadcast on CJAD this Saturday March 10th from Vancouver, as the Impact take on the Whitecaps. Pre-game coverage begins 5:30 PM, with opening kickoff at 6 PM. For the rest of the season, CJAD will broadcast every home game, starting with the Impact’s home-opener Saturday March 17th at Olympic Stadium against the Chicago Fire.

Impact coverage goes beyond game broadcasts on CJAD 800. CJAD Sports reporters will track Impact practices, news conferences and transactions and CJAD’s live sports talk show, “The Locker Room with Abe Hefter”  will offer exclusive player profiles and interviews.
