In the latest transformation for CTV News Channel, the network unveiled a new on-air look today including a new set, new logo, and new on-screen graphics. The new look was unveiled as CTV News Channel begins production in High Definition for the first time.
The new set is CTV News Channel’s most technically advanced set to date, providing a bright and contemporary look and feel for CTV’s national all-news network. The new set features three 85-inch monitors, including two 3×1 infinity stacks that are filled with continuously updated editorial content. The new studio also includes a new LED array, as well as an LED floor, a new intimate interview space, and a new desk that comfortably accommodates the new multi-anchor format revealed earlier this year.
“Viewers will immediately notice a bright, contemporary new look and wide screen format,” said Jack Fleischmann, Vice-President, CTV News Channel and General Manager, BNN. “The new set, logo and our HD production are part of a larger evolution at CTV News Channel, demonstrating our continued investment and commitment to our all news channel.”
Designed by Michael “Spike” Parks, who is also responsible for the recent transformations of the CTV National News and BNN, sets as well as numerous other productions including the MUCHMUSIC Video Awards, the updated set is just one of a number of recent investments in CTV News Channel.
Earlier this year, CTV News Channel announced an investment in new programs and anchors, as well as an adjustment to its format. In addition to the launch of three new programs, Express, Direct and National Affairs, CTV News Channel has added six new faces to its fleet of seasoned and highly respected anchors: Amanda Blitz, Rudyard Griffiths, Tasha Kheiriddin, Scott Reid, Todd van der Heyden and Patricia Lovett-Reid. Additionally, the channel moved to a two-anchor format for much of the day, allowing for a more informal and conversational approach to delivering news as it happens.
