  • Global News announced today that the talent lineup for The Morning Show, its ground-breaking news program set to launch this fall, is now complete with the addition of Daru Dhillon. A consummate professional with years of broadcast experience, Dhillon joins Liza Fromer, Dave Gerry and Kris Reyes to provide viewers with the weather and traffic news they need to start their day.

“We are thrilled to be bringing a proven broadcaster such as Daru on board to help launch The Morning Show,” says Ward Smith, News Director and Station Manager, Global Toronto. “Her experience, personality and wealth of broadcast knowledge will allow Daru to work perfectly with the rest of the cast, and with The Morning Show’s innovative format.”

The Morning Show is more than just a breakfast news program that retells the same stories every half-hour. It will feature a team of talented broadcast veterans from different backgrounds freely engaging in unscripted, interactive conversations about the day-to-day life that reflects the topics most relevant to Torontonians.

“Bringing Daru Dhillon into the fold is the final key to assembling a team that will redefine morning television in this city,” says Bud Pierce, Executive Producer, The Morning Show. “Both myself and the rest of The Morning Show cast have had the opportunity to work with Daru over these past few weeks, and the chemistry that exists between her Liza, Dave and Kris has been fantastic.”

Born and raised in Victoria, BC, Dhillon has honed her many broadcasting skills while working at Victoria’s CHEK TV, Sportsnet (Host of Connected AM) and Cineplex Entertainment.

More information regarding The Morning Show – including its launch date – will be made available in the coming weeks.
