  • After more than a year on air in Toronto, Global News is pleased to announce that The Morning Show will be bringing its brand of in-depth conversations and high profile interviews to all Global stations across the country beginning Monday, January 7 from 9-9:30am.

Led by host Liza Fromer and featuring an all-star team of energetic broadcast professionals, The Morning Show will provide Canadians with an informed perspective on the issues and concepts making headlines across the country. Airing immediately following Global News’ local morning programs, the national show will move away from the traditional newswheel format to give viewers a thoughtful take on the stories they care most about. The Morning Show will also continue in its tradition of engaging A-list celebrities, politicians and experts alike in the intelligent manner that has already set the show apart from the competition in Toronto.

“The development of a national morning program is an important piece in Global News’ overall strategy and represents our continued dedication to providing Canadians with the most original and valuable news content possible,” says Troy Reeb, Senior Vice-President, Global News and Station Operations. “We’re proud to be launching Canada’s only conventional network breakfast program, while giving viewers a show that dovetails perfectly into our already-established local morning news programs.”

Not only does the national launch of The Morning Show put a perfect exclamation point on Global News’ local morning news offerings across the country, but it also caps off what has been a highly successful breakfast programming expansion. With a total of four local shows launched in communities across the country in the past two years, and with two more morning shows slated to launch in Montreal and Halifax early next year.
