  • Global Winnipeg is taking its shows on the road this August to report on the stories that matter most to Winnipeggers as part of its Global News LIVE on Location tour. Beginning Tuesday, August 13, the Morning News will broadcast live from the pedway system below 201 Portage Avenue until Friday, August 30 with Evening News and News Hour Final reporting live from various locations around the city. Viewers are encouraged to come out, watch the broadcast and have a chance to meet Anchors Eva Kovacs, Derek Taylor, and Weather Anchor Mike Koncan on August 20 and August 27.

“The Global News Liveon Location tour gives us a chance to focus on locally-rooted content in the heart of the community and interact with viewers on a one-on-one level,” says Jon Lovlin, Managing Editor. “We are dedicated to bringing viewers the stories that matter most night after night and this tour will showcase that dedication.”

Evening News and News Hour Final will broadcast live from the pedway system below 201 Portage Avenue Mondays and Fridays and will travel around the city for the remainder of the week. Highlights of this coverage will include a first look inside some of the newly built condos located in downtown Winnipeg, a preview of the new Journey to Churchill exhibit at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, and a tour inside the long-awaited Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

In conjunction with Global News Live on Location, Global Winnipeg will launch a special contest on August 13, giving viewers a chance to Tweet the location of the nightly Evening News newscast for a chance to win Global News prizing.
