Lister Sinclair Dead At 85

  • Veteran CBC broadcaster Lister Sinclair died this

    morning in a Toronto hospital, reported by CBC/

    Sinclair, in his 85th. year, had a storied career at the CBC, working as a host, playwright, and even as vice-president of the network.

    He hosted the radio show “Ideas” for 16 years and was a fixture on the program “Court of Opinion.”
    He also wrote numerous plays for radio and TV.

    Sinclair who was born in Bombay (now Mumbai) and raised in England. Sinclair also helped organize the Association of Canadian Television and Radio Artists which is now known as ACTRA, which
    represents thousands of Canadian performers. He was awarded the Order of Canada in 1985.

    A tribute to Sinclair is set to begin tonight on CBC Radio One.
