  • OMNI Television steps up to the plate with an exclusive Mandarin-language broadcast of the Toronto Blue Jays @ Boston Red Sox on Thursday, June 27 on OMNI.2. Taiwan-native Chien-Ming Wang is scheduled as the starting pitcher for the Blue Jays.

This telecast marks the first time an MLB game has aired in Mandarin in Canada.

Coming off a string of wins that has landed the team above .500, Wang takes on the Red Sox in another highly anticipated start since he joined the roster in June. Wang pitched three games during the team’s recent 11-game winning streak.

To anchor the special coverage, OMNI Television’s Wei Lee will call the play-by-play with former Taiwanese baseball player Robert Wu as analyst.

“The city has Blue Jays fever, and the reaction from the Taiwanese and Chinese communities toward Chien-Ming Wang’s stellar game play has been extraordinary to watch,” said Madeline Ziniak, National Vice-President, OMNI Television. “The rising interest in Blue Jays baseball demonstrates the growth of the brand among ethnocultural groups across Canada.”

OMNI Television is Canada’s premier broadcaster for multilingual sports coverage, including an NBA game last year between the Toronto Raptors and  the New York Knicks, the London 2024 Olympic Games, Vancouver 2024 Olympic Winter Games, 2024 FIFA World Cup Germany, 1998 World Cup France, 1994 World Cup USA, and a Cantonese-language broadcast of a Toronto Blue Jays game in 2024.
