Proper Television Expands Development Team

  • Proper Television is moving into its eleventh year full steam ahead, announcing today, the expansion of its development team with two newly created roles. Lisa Gabriele, TV Producer and best-selling author begins as Director of Development, reporting directly to Guy O’Sullivan, President of Proper Television. Mike Armitage, former Head of Production for Antica Productions begins as Development Producer, reporting directly to Gabriele.

    “Moving into our new Toronto headquarters marks a new dawn for Proper, and expanding our development team is a declaration of intent,” said Guy O’Sullivan, President of Proper Television. “We have a successful roster of original programs under our belt and want to continue to build on that by delivering even more quality originals developed from the ground up. Lisa knows production very well and is a natural idea-generator. She has an infectious enthusiasm for cool television and will bring a breath of fresh air to Proper. She and Mike have worked together for years and as a very successful and sought after development producer, he is someone that I have admired for quite some time.”

    Lisa Gabriele is a 20+ year radio and television veteran and best-selling author who, in 1999, created Moving Stories, one of the first reality shows in Canada. As the senior producer of Dragons’ Den (CBC) she won two Geminis and two Canadian Screen Awards, and has collaborated on bestselling books with Kevin O’Leary and Jim Treliving. With a background in news, she also wrote CBC Radio’s The Current for three years, and most recently served as Special Producer for Proper Television’s MasterChef Canada: A Holiday Special (CTV).

    Mike Armitage is the winner of one Gemini award and two Canadian Screen Awards for his work developing and producing Dragons’ Den (CBC). He is a sought after development producer who also helped create other popular CBC shows including Canada’s Next Great Prime Minister and The Big Decision. His writing has appeared in Vice Magazine and the Globe and Mail. Most recently, Mike was the former Head of Production at Antica Productions, This past summer he was the co-creator of Newshounds, a national news quiz show on CBC Radio One.
