Sportsnet Signs Multi Year Extensions with Analysts

Nick Kypreos and Doug MacLean, two of the most knowledgeable and engaging personalities in hockey today, have both signed multi-year extensions with Sportsnet. Known for their distinctive insight, analysis, and opinions, Kypreos and MacLean will continue as two of the leading analysts on Sportsnet’s Hockey Central and Sportsnet 590 The FAN’s Hockey Central @ Noon, and will also continue to make regular appearances on Connected.

“Nick and Doug are cornerstones of Sportsnet’s hockey coverage,” said Scott Woodgate, Vice-President, News and Information, Sportsnet. “As two of the nation’s top hockey analysts, they’ve seen it, done it and been there when it comes to all things NHL-related. They bring a tremendous amount of talent, expertise and personality to Sportsnet, and we are thrilled to continue our relationship with them.”

Kypreos, one of the network’s original hockey analysts, is synonymous with the Sportsnet brand, having been with the network since its inception in 1998. Known for breaking big trades and providing unique insider news, analysis, scoops, insights and reaction, the feisty and charismatic 1994 Stanley Cup Champion has covered all things hockey on the network including the NHL, Hockey Central Trade Deadline, Friday Night Hockey, MasterCard Memorial Cup and AHL. Kypreos played eight seasons in the NHL (1989-97) with the Washington Capitals, Hartford Whalers, New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Prior to joining Sportsnet in 2008, MacLean enjoyed 22 years in the NHL as a coach, general manager and club president. His work behind the bench with the Florida Panthers earned MacLean the Hockey News Coach of the Year Award (1995-96), recognition as a finalist for the Jack Adams Award (1995-96) and two consecutive stints as head coach of the Eastern Conference All-Star Team in 1996 and 1997. Bringing a different perspective on the inner workings of the NHL and the sport of hockey following his time with the Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers, St. Louis Blues, Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings, MacLean’s experience, combined with his attention-grabbing personality, has turned him into a fan-favourite.
