TVO Appoints Trina McQueen as Vice-Chair of Board

  • TVO’s Chair of the Board of Directors, Peter O’Brian is pleased to announce that Trina McQueen has been appointed to the Board as the new Vice-Chair for a three year-term (May 2024-May 2024).

    “Trina brings a wealth of experience to the Board of Directors,” said Peter O’Brian, Chair of the Board of Directors, TVO. “Her long career in journalism and media is an immeasurable asset to TVO, as we move forward with our strategy to be Ontario’s partner for digital education and to provide the digital public space for Ontario-perspective in-depth current affairs.”

    An industry veteran Mrs. McQueen began her career as an on-air journalist. She then went on to be Head of CBC News, founding President of Discovery Channel and President and COO of CTV Inc. She has served on numerous industry boards including CBC, Telefilm, National Film Board of Canada advisory council, Canadian Journalism Foundation, and the Canadian Television Fund. Mrs. McQueen is currently, Adjunct Professor in the Arts and Media department of Schulich School of Business at York University. One of her major interests is education. She has been a Governor of University of Waterloo, board member at CIFAR, and on advisory Boards at Ryerson University, Carleton University, Queen’s University, and the University of British Columbia. She was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2024.

    “Trina’s industry knowledge coupled with her passion for education will help TVO to reinvent learning in Ontario, delivering impact and enhancing citizen engagement through innovative digital tools,” said Lisa de Wilde, Chief Executive Officer of TVO.

    Members of the TVO Board of Directors are appointed by the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
