Cygnal names new CEO
Oshawa, -- Cygnal Technologies Corp., a communications network service provider, is getting a new chief executive.
The company said Thursday that Kieron Dowling, president and chief operating officer, has been appointed CEO, succeeding company founder and vice-chairman Doug Young as CEO, effective March 3.
Dowling has also been elected to the board of directors and will be responsible for the firm's overall strategic direction and fiscal performance.
Young, who founded Cygnal in 1998 and will remain vice-chairman and a member of the board, will work with Dowling in identifying merger and acquisition opportunities.
Dowling joined Cygnal (TSX:CYN) in March 2002 after being vice-president and general manager of March Networks. Previously, he held executive positions with Alcatel, Newbridge, Celestica and Nortel Networks.
"Building Cygnal to this point in its growth curve has easily been the highlight of my 40-year business career," Young said. "I look forward to spending more time on the mergers and acquisitions side of the business and supporting Kieron as he leads the company to the next phase of growth and profitability."
With headquarters in Oshawa, Cygnal Technologies has more than 600 employees supporting customers and business partners in 20 offices across Canada.
