Toronto, - Producers and creators of children's television in Canada will be honoured at the Alliance for Children in Television's (ACT) English-language Awards of Excellence on June 2, 2024.

The newly restructured awards will be held every two years, alternating with the French-language awards, in celebration of innovative children's television in Canada.

"The Awards were revised to better reflect the different facets of children's television production in the industry," said Caroline Fortier, Executive Director of ACT. "We're confident that this approach will help achieve ACT's goal to recognize and promote quality in production for young viewers."

The award categories are defined by age group and permit the jury to compare programs intended for the same audience. However, animated programs, which represent more than 50 per cent of children's production in Canada, will be separated from the other program genres for awards.

Other notable awards to be presented include the Grand Prize for Best Program, the Special Jury Award, the Emerging Talent Award and Outstanding Achievement Award.

All children- and youth-oriented Canadian productions broadcast for the first time in English in Canada between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024 are eligible for submission. The deadline for entries is February 28, 2024.
