  • CBC dominates Atlantic Journalism Awards

    Halifax, - The CBC dominated the 2024 Atlantic Journalism Awards, earning top spot in seven of the 23 categories on Saturday, including best enterprise reporting in TV and radio.

    The awards were presented during a gala dinner held. Peter Mansbridge of CBC-TV's The National was the guest speaker at the 22nd annual event.

    The Telegraph-Journal of Saint John, N.B., was also a top winner with four awards, including two for photojournalism.

    For the first time, the AJAs recognized top sports reporting in the region.

    Monty Mosher of the Halifax Chronicle-Herald won honours for his feature on boxer Kirk Johnson and his home community of North
    Preston, N.S.

    Other top winners were:

    Sport news radio: Gary Nickerson and Ray Zinck of CJLS Yarmouth, N.S.

    Spot news television: Phonse Jessome and Tom Murphy of CBC-TV, Halifax.

    Enterprise reporting radio: Shaun Waters and Michael Camp, CBC Radio, Fredericton.

    Enterprise reporting television: Mary Munson and Alan Inkpen, CBC-TV, Halifax

    Continuing coverage radio: Paul Pigott of CBC Radio, Labrador.

    Continuing coverage television: Elizabeth Chiu of ATV Halifax.

    Feature writing radio: Marie Wadden of CBC Radio, St. John's, Nfld.

    Feature writing television: Bob Wakeham of CBC-TV, St. John's, Nfld.

    Atlantic magazine article: Peter Evans and Larry Jenkins of Saltscapes.

    Entertainment reporting: Nelson Hansen of Global Television, Halifax.

    Video journalist: Craig Paisley of CBC-TV, Halifax.
