  • Sportsnet HD launching Labour Day

    8/14/2003

TORONTO - The 1 p.m. game between the New York Yankees and the Toronto Blue Jays at SkyDome on September 1st will key the launch of Rogers Sportsnet in high definition.

Sportsnet HD will broadcast 13 Toronto Blue Jays home games in September. A schedule of other events to be broadcast on Sportsnet HD will be released later this summer.

"Sportsnet HD will be the next best thing to being there for sports fans," says Doug Beeforth, president of Rogers Sportsnet. "It's a natural evolution in our relationship with fans, and will enhance their viewing experience. We're excited about the opportunity."

Rogers Sportsnet also announced that Samsung has signed on as a charter partner of Sportsnet HD.

The Sportsnet HD channel will be available nationally, however carriage deals were not released (but we're betting an agreement with Rogers Cable is a home run).
