CALGARY - After almost a decade, veteran sportscaster Bruce Barker has returned to Calgary to join the ranks of QR77, a leader in the city's sports coverage.

Barker ("Barks") will team up with longtime QR77 announcer Mark Stephen for his on-air debut next Monday, October 27th. The show, which will air weeknights from 9 to 11 p.m. will be called "QR77's SportsTalk with Mark Stephen and Bruce Barker".

Barker has been a sportscaster since 1979 and boasts an impressive track record. He was a finalist for the 1990 national radio award for his sports commentary (Barks Bites). He was the voice of the National Lacrosse League's Toronto Rock, and the only voice the OHL's Mississauga Icedogs have had since their inception.

Bruce has hosted the Buffalo Bills pre-game show for the past two seasons, and was the Toronto Phantoms play-by-play announcer in the Arena Football League. Out of the arena, Bruce has raised over three million dollars assisting numerous charities including hosting his own charity golf tournament for the last four years. Barker was most recently heard in Toronto on MOJO Radio.

"Barks" last worked in the Calgary market in 1994 as colour commentator for the Pacific Coast League's Calgary Cannons baseball club, as well as sports director at CJAY 92 FM.

"The addition of Bruce Barker gives QR77 the three most knowledgeable, credible sports personalities in Calgary radio", says QR77 program director Jay Donald. "With Mark Stephen and Bruce Barker hosting SportsTalk at night, along with Sports Director Bill Powers delivering comprehensive reports in the morning, QR77 remains the station to turn to for local sports information".

In addition to his duties on Corus-owned QR77, Bruce will also be working with the Calgary Roughnecks of the National Lacrosse League.
