Toronto, - The Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) has ratified the new 2024 DGC/CFTPA Standard Agreement between the DGC and the Canadian Film and Television Production Association (CFTPA). The new Standard Agreement covers all DGC members working in Alberta, the North West Territories, Saskatchewan, Nunavut and Ontario.

The new agreement includes provisions for documentary production, new tiered rates in Alberta and Saskatchewan -- to help attract productions of various budgets, and standardised terms and rates for all members in each of the regions which will increase the mobility of both productions and members. The term of the new agreement is March 11th, 2024 to January 26th, 2024.

"This new agreement is exciting," said DGC President Alan Goluboff, "it unites three separate agreements into one and greatly strengthens the bargaining power of members in all of these regions. It's a win-win situation for motion picture production in Canada," continued Goluboff, "productions with varying budgets will have greater access to DGC talent, as well as increased mobility, and Guild members will be covered equally in each of these regions. This ratification vote is a testament to the hard work of both the DGC's and the CFTPA's negotiating committees."

The Directors Guild of Canada (DGC) is a national labour organisation representing key creative and logistical personnel in the motion picture industries. The Guild began in 1962 as an association of Canada's creative film directors. Today it represents over 3500 members in 48 different craft and occupational job categories, covering all areas of production, editing and design.
