AZCAR Awarded Design Contract by Crown Castle Mobile Media

Crown Castle Mobile Media has selected AZCAR Technologies, Inc. as a systems integrator for its broadcast center located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The broadcast center will acquire, process and distribute digital television content and other rich media services to mobile devices. The multi-phased project is scheduled to be completed this calendar year.

The scope of AZCAR’s contract with Crown Castle includes the continued build of the development/demonstration system while designing the broadcast center that will support the commercial service offering. AZCAR has commenced the design of the broadcast center and will be integrating various systems and new technologies to include content acquisition, processing and encapsulation, network timing and distribution and the overall monitoring and management systems. In addition to these systems, AZCAR will design the video operations center where the planned national mobile media network will be monitored and controlled.

“During the process of selecting AZCAR to perform preliminary integration work, AZCAR demonstrated the wherewithal and technical depth required to make this project successful. “Because of AZCAR’s demonstrated performance during the preliminary integration, we decided to partner with AZCAR for the development and deployment of this leading edge technology”, said Michael Schueppert, President of Crown Castle Mobile Media.

Stephen Pumple, CEO AZCAR, noted that “AZCAR brings important experience in IPTV and video operations and monitoring centers to this project which will be an important contributing factor to the success of this project.” John Luff, AZCAR Sr. VP Business Development added, “We see the emerging IPTV and mobile media markets as an important part of our strategy for growth.”

“We expect this relatively new television over IP format using DVB-H to be instrumental in changing the way the mobile users receive media and video programming”, said Tom McDonough, AZCAR Senior Consultant coordinating the engineering design.
