Fujinon Introduces HD ENG/EFP Lens

February 14, 2006

by -- Fujinon Inc.

For producers and DPs looking for convenience, flexibility and versatility, Fujinon has a remarkable new entry in its industry-leading line of 2/3-inch HD ENG/EFP lenses that delivers a lot of production power in a small package. To be introduced during NAB 2006 (Booth SU149), the HA16X6.3ERM is the first lens to combine wide angle and high magnification (16X zoom ratio), enabling production crews to carry just one lens for a range of shooting environments. It is ideal for news, any handheld production, and in small studios for a broad range of applications.

The HA16X6.3ERM has a wide angle of 6.3mm and a telephoto focal length of 202mm with the 2X extender. The minimum focusing distance has been reduced to 0.4 meters, and the new lens includes Fujinon's exclusive DigiPower servo system for precise control of zoom functions.

“This is the first lens to combine wide angle with such a high (16X) magnification,” said Dave Waddell, Marketing Manager, Fujinon’s Broadcast and Communications Product Division. “This allows news and production shooters to carry just one lens for all kinds of shooting. Adding the wider angle to this lens makes it an outstanding choice for news and production. It will change the way most news crews operate by giving them a complete lens (wide and telephoto) in one package.”

When used with HD/SD switchable cameras, the HA16X6.3ERM wide angle increases to 7.6mm in the 4:3 mode. This is the same as Fujinon’s standard ENG/EFP lenses so no ratio converter or wide adaptor is required.

The HA16X6.3ERM will be available in the fall.

Fujinon is a major manufacturer and distributor of optics and lens assemblies for the broadcast, digital cinema, and industrial markets. The company's line of television zoom lenses are used in virtually every segment of the broadcast industry, including electronic newsgathering, studio and field production, and high definition television.
