George Stroumboulopoulos Returns to Radio
Corus Radio announced today the return of George Stroumboulopoulos to the radio airwaves with the launch of The Strombo Show starting Sunday, November 4 on Corus new rock stations 99.3 The FOX (Vancouver), Power 97 (Winnipeg), 102.1 The Edge (Toronto), FM96 (London) and Y108 (Hamilton). Airing live across Canada, The Strombo Show will mix insightful conversations, celebrity interviews, ground-breaking music and audience interaction in an open-line weekly three-hour live show.

“It’ll be exciting to see George at his best, interacting – and sometimes colliding – with the audience and guests on everything from music and current events to celebrities and sports,” said Alan Cross, Program Director of 102.1 the Edge and Executive Producer of The Strombo Show. “George has a unique ability to connect with Canadians on a wide range of topics and issues.”

The Strombo Show combines George’s knowledge and connections from the world of entertainment, music and current events each week in a no-holds-barred live-to-air radio event. Never afraid to express an opinion or ask the tough questions, Stroumboulopoulos will connect with listeners through weekly features such as Questions About Stuff, Around the World, Advice/Problems, My Favourite Things, a Top 5 list from that week, and America. Listeners can e-mail, text or call into The Strombo Show for a total interactive experience.

“I'm excited to be back on the radio,” said Stroumboulopoulos. “My formative years in the business were in radio and I will always be a radio guy. I’m looking forward to getting on the air, taking phone calls and playing awesome music.”

Since hosting Punkorama and Live In Toronto on 102.1 the Edge in the late 90’s, George has gone on to interview the biggest newsmakers in the world, from Bono to Noam Chomsky and Stephen Harper with his work on MuchMusic and CBC’s The Hour. He has gained a large audience in Canada becoming one of the country’s music authorities and leading journalistic voices with his intelligent interviews and contemporary take on current issues. In 2024 and 2024, George won back-to-back Gemini Awards for Best Host or Interviewer for his work on The Hour.
