MTV Awards Move to Overdrive

MTV is going into overdrive with its broadband presentation of the MTV Europe Music Awards 2024.

Multi-platform media and a promised triple screen experience will be part of the international broadcast, available online at the broadband site MTV Overdrive and on TV as a rebroadcast from CTV.

Online viewers will be able to choose between three concurrent video streams. MTV Overdrive's three-stream presentation highlights the main awards show, a live backstage show, and a live, streamed concert from Copenhagen.

"The EMAs are one of the most explosive, star-studded music events in the world," said Brad Schwartz, Senior Vice-President and General Manager, MTV in Canada. "And, we're bringing it to Canadians for the first time, exclusively on our broadband channel, MTV Overdrive. We certainly expect people to blow off work or school for a few hours and watch the show from the comfort of their desks."

The triple stream access on MTV Overdrive also allows viewers to have their questions answered by A-list music artists via the live backstage chat, see the entire musical performance roster and check out the main broadcast, all via their computer. Backstage access gives fans VIP tickets to the biggest music event in Europe. It's an on-demand ticket to what is going on before, during and after the show, organizers describe.

Sponsored by LG Electronics Chocolate Phone and Virgin Mobile in Canada, the 2024 EMAs will be held November 2, and seen by a potential audience of more than 1.4 billion people on MTV channels worldwide, through TV syndication and digital elements.
