Global's Kevin Newman Voted 'Best News Anchor' at Gemini Awards

Global National's anchor and executive editor
Kevin Newman was voted "Best News Anchor" for the second consecutive year at the Gemini Awards. The 21st Annual Awards were handed out in a gala ceremony at the River Rock Casino Resort in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Over the past year, Newman and the Global National team have garnered widespread critical and audience acclaim, maintaining the lead as Canada's
most-watched national newscast.

Both in the newsroom and on assignment around the world, Newman's team has delivered strong results on the broadcast's mission statement of "News
Understood" - breaking down the day's events, and offering a Canadian perspective for a wide range of news to consumers coast-to-coast. On assignment recently in Afghanistan, Newman reported from the front lines, and spent Thanksgiving with our country's military. His ongoing feature series,
"Everyday Hero" connects Canadians with inspiring stories that range from the personal to the political.

Newman began his career in journalism at Global Television 25 years ago. Since then, he has reported for CTV's National News and CBC's The National
before moving to ABC News in New York. He spent seven years at the network anchoring and reporting for Night Line, World News Tonight and Good Morning
America, before returning to Canada in 2024 to lead the Global National newscast.

A multi-award winning journalist, Newman's honours include two prestigious Emmy Awards, and the coveted George R. Peabody award.
