Movie Network's Series 'Slings & Arrows' Takes Top Gemini Drama Awards
Astral Media's The Movie Network was a big winner at the 21st Annual Gemini Awards Gala with its Canadian original drama series Slings & Arrows (Season 2) sweeping up the top awards in the drama category including Best Dramatic Series, Best Performance by an Actor in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role (Mark McKinney) and Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role (Martha Burns).
This slate of top honours for Slings & Arrows is in addition to three formerly awarded Geminis presented at the Drama, Variety and Comedy Gala for Best Direction in a Dramatic Series (Peter Wellington), Best Writing in a Dramatic Series (Susan Coyne, Bob Martin and Mark McKinney) and Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series (Susan Coyne).
In addition to the six Gemini awards for Slings & Arrows, The Movie Network also garnered Geminis for the following original series:
* Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series – Paul Soles, Terminal City
* Best General/Human Interest Series – Stuntdawgs, Omni Film Productions Limited
* Best Cross Platform Project – www.regenesistv.com, Xenophile Media Inc.
