The Canada Media Fund will hold a focus group session as part of its on-going Industry consultation about the stategies and mechanisms for funding Canadian television program production. The purpose of the session, organizers describe, is to obtain the input and expertise of industry stakeholders as the policies and programs of the CMF are created.
Discussions at the Focus Group will centre on the key policy issues outlined during an online virtual town hall, staged last August.
"Through the consultation process, industry stakeholders will play an active role in determining the program policies of the Canada Media Fund," said Valerie Creighton, President and CEO of the CTF, in a released stateement about the consultation process. "This consultation with the industry is critical to a successful launch of the CMF and we look forward to hearing the great ideas this process will generate."
Through the approach used during the sessions, the following are some of the questions that will be addressed:
*What are our common sector and business needs, and how do we align those aspects with stakeholders' discrete business goals?
*How can we leverage your feedback to deliver on the goals of the policy and the publicly-funded program?
*How do we gain awareness, understanding, alignment, and commitment among various stakeholders?
The focus group event takes place in Toronto on Wednesday, October 14, 2009, at the Old Mill Inn & Spa, 21 Old Mill Road, in The Guild Hall. The session will be moderated, and a light lunch will be served.
Acting as moderator for the session will be Alan Kay of the Glasgow Group, who is a change management consultant. He frequently facilitates discussions about complex issues for large private and public sector organizations. He has also hosted many Roundtable discussions, bringing together like-minded executives and professionals to share their knowledge and insights about issues.
The CTF has prepared detailed briefing notes on the key policy issues that will be discussed. The briefing notes are available on the CTF website, at

Participants are urged to RSVP by Wednesday, October 7 by completing an online form, or contacting the CTF.
