The Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television is pleased to announce its collaboration with NBCUniversal and Soho House for the popular Academy Broadcaster Pitch Series 2013.
“The Academy is very excited to nurture our media scene by bringing talented content creators together,” says Helga Stephenson, Academy CEO. “We’re sure that Academy members and attendees will find the environment of this restored Toronto heritage building very conducive to networking, and the exchange of new ideas,” she adds.
The Broadcaster Pitch Series 2013 is sponsored by NBCUniversal with the participation of Soho House Toronto, the outstanding private member club for film and media personalities.
The Series will consist of six events taking place Tuesday evenings until August. They will be led by programming executives for the professional development of Academy members, Soho House members, and notable producers and media creators. Each event will focus on a specific network, offering insight on what broadcasters look for in new content and also how to prepare a successful pitch.
The first event in the Broadcaster Pitch Series will be held on Tuesday March 19, 2013 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm featuring Patrick O’Sullivan, Executive in Charge of Production at CBC.
This partnership goes hand-in-hand with the Academy’s continued focus on the creation and celebration of Canadian screen content as demonstrated by the launch of Canadian Screen Week on February 25, culminating in the first-ever Canadian Screen Awards Broadcast Gala on March 3, 2013 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.
