Radio-Canada's Executive Vice-President Louis Lalande today announced the departure of Alain Saulnier, Executive Director, News and Current Affairs.
After joining Radio-Canada in 1984, Mr. Saulnier held a number of TV and radio news positions. He went on to head up French-language Radio News and Current Affairs services in 1999. In 2006, he was appointed Executive Director for News and Current Affairs, consolidating Radio-Canada's TV and radio news services under one integrated structure.
"Alain Saulnier is highly respected in Canada's journalism community, and he has been largely instrumental in shaping the tradition of quality and excellence in news reporting that have become one of the public broadcaster's calling cards," says Lalande. "Under his leadership, investigative journalism has advanced by leaps and bounds at Radio-Canada - this hasn't gone unnoticed, and it's also had a tangible impact on social and democratic life for all Canadians. I'd like to thank Alain for his contribution to the public broadcaster's services."
Alain Saulnier will leave Radio-Canada on March 16, 2012.
