Astral Media Launches 'cinépop'

Today at noon, Astral Media will officially launch cinépop, the very first French-language television channel dedicated to cinema classics. Twenty two years after the launch of Super Ecran, cinépop fills a void for film buffs wanting to relive the best of
cinema from the 1950s to today in a commercial-free television environment. Designed to deliver a "retro-hip" TV experience, cinépop will showcase an
eclectic selection of the best movie productions from Hollywood, Europe and Canada, including the Quebec films that have told our stories and marked our lives.

"We are very proud to be the first to offer a television channel that is devoted exclusively to showcasing cinema's most popular classics to Canada's
French-language viewers. cinépop confirms Astral Media's pay TV leadership and expertise in offering a varied, accessible and memorable movie experience. We are convinced that cinépop will quickly become a preferred TV destination for cinema enthusiasts", said Johanne Saint-Laurent, Vice-President and General Manager of Astral Télé Réseaux.

In adopting the tagline Mon cinéma, mes souvenirs. ("My Movies, My Memories"), cinépop invites viewers to travel back in time with cinema's greatest stars. Every evening at 8 p.m., cinépop invites you to watch some of cinema's classic favourites including Sophie's Choice, The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, The Man Who Would be King, Escape from Alcatraz, On Golden Pond, 10, All the President's Men, The Color Purple, Dune and The African
Queen, to name but a few.

In addition, like Astral Media's other pay TV networks, cinépop will offer a commercial-free and uncut movie experience 24 hours a day. cinépop
will be available to Vidéotron and Bell ExpressVu digital television subscribers in their respective service areas.
