In the midst of a hurricane of change in terms of media ownership, things on the radio landscape are heating up with the latest PPM radio ratings. Today’s radio release from BBM completes the thirteen week period covering November 26th to February 24th. This marks the fourteenth 13 week period in the new era of measurement for Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary. Let’s take a look at some of the numbers for those markets plus Montreal (the first PPM market).

Toronto: Bragging rights at the top of the ratings heap go to CHFI-FM with a 17.1% share of hours tuned for A12+ (up from 13.5% last time out). This upturn is due, in large part, to the overwhelming success of their All Christmas music programming in December. CHFI-FM takes the #1 spot with the ladies 25-54 delivering a 22.7% share (up from 17.0%) followed by CHUM-FM delivering a 19.2% share (up from 19.0%). Again, due to the Christmas music phenomenon, CHFI-FM also holds the #1 spot for males 25-54, posting a 12.8% share (up from 9.6% in the last 13 week book) followed by Q107 at 11.8% (down from 11.9%). The Edge ends up in a dead heat with CHFI-FM for M18-34 as they both turn in a 12.8% share. For F18-34, CHFI-FM tops the list with a 25.3% (up from 21.4%) share of hours tuned followed by CHUM-FM posting a 17.4% (down from 20.4%) share.

Vancouver: With their version of All Christmas music programming 103.5QM grabs the #1 spot for A12+ with a 12.2% share of hours tuned (up from 10.3% last time out). Also taking the top spot for F25-54 was perennial office station favourite 103.5QM-FM, posting a 17.0% share (up from 13.4% last time out). Virgin 95.3 holds the lead with M25-54 listeners, delivering an 11.0% share (up from 10.3%) followed closely by The Beat 94.5 with a 10.0% share (down from 10.4%).
