CBC News announced today that veteran CBC News journalist Susan Bonner will be the new host of the World at Six, CBC News’ flagship nightly radio program. Susan takes over the anchor chair on Tuesday, September 2.

“Susan’s been at the front lines of major stories over the course of her career, and she’ll bring that depth of experience and innate curiosity to her role leading the World at Six,” said Jennifer McGuire, general manager and editor in chief, CBC News and Centres. “Susan’s intelligence will bring an original take to the stories that matter, helping audiences understand not only what happened, but why.”

Susan brings a wealth of reporting and hosting experience to her new role. She has reported from across Canada and recently finished a four-year assignment at CBC News’ Washington, D.C. bureau. Born in Montreal, Susan first joined the CBC as a summer trainee in 1985 and has held postings in almost every Canadian province and learned about Canada on the front lines. She spent 10 years in Ottawa’s parliamentary bureau reporting on the end of Liberal dominance and the rise of Stephen Harper’s Conservative government.
