Beginning in September 2025, CBC News: Windsor at 6 will expand its television newscast to ninety minutes. Windsor and area audiences will be able to tune in for their local news at an earlier time, starting at 5:30pm.
"We're pleased to offer an expanded news format as part of our commitment to CBC's 2025 strategic plan," says Shawna Kelly, Managing Editor of CBC Windsor. "CBC Windsor is looking forward to providing more local services aimed at deepening our community connections."
The expanded newscast, in addition to the current radio and digital offerings, will deliver more breaking news and original local journalism to the Windsor community.
With this new format, the Windsor audience will now get 90 minutes of local, nightly news - bringing it into line with many other regional CBC newscasts.
Resources will be redirected to support this earlier, expanded local news offering. As a result, CBC Windsor will no longer broadcast its current 10 minute format, weeknights at 11:00pm, starting this Fall.
