Effective September 16th, 2009 The Christian Channel is renamed Grace Television Network, Grace TV. Grace Television Network is Canada's largest 24/7 provider of Christian programming and reaches more than 30 % of Canadian households. Grace TV’s objective is to double its broadcast coverage within Canada in two years. Long term goals include broadcasting Grace TV in international locations including USA, Europe, Africa and Asia.
Peter Youngren, President and CEO of Grace Television Network, says: “We are grateful how excited and responsive our viewers have been since The Canadian Radio- television and Telecommunications Commission granted the license to World Impact Ministries on May 4, 2009. Grace TV’s main goal is to provide Christian programming that viewers consider relevant. As usual, the added value lies in the applications; a personal experience that the Gospel works, is itself the best guarantee for Christian television to have a strong place in Canadian media.”
Canadians seem to be willing – not just to receive this 100 % Christian television signal – but also carry Grace TV around the world. Nathan Thurberchannel’s COO, says: “Some TV-stations in Europe, Africa and Asia are already asking when our signal will be available. It tells us that there are expectations and space for Grace TV to expand. This is a rare opportunity for Canadians to reach other nations through today’s technology.”
The channel is owned by WIM, which ventured into media more than 25 years ago. WIM’s ongoing daily telecast “Celebrating Life with Jesus” has reached viewers around the world through a host of networks including Vision TV, CTS, TBN Asia, Daystar, TCT and Inspiration. More than 170 nations are presently served through online streaming.
On January 26, 2009, S-VOX announced that they had reached an agreement to sell The Christian Channel to WIM. The sale was subject to the CRTC approval. It was approved by the CRTC on May 4, 2009. WIM took control of the channel in June 1, 2009.
