Canadian Music Week is pleased to announce that radio stalwart Chuck McCoy is to be inducted into the Canadian Music Industry Hall of Fame. McCoy will be honoured for his stellar contributions to the Canadian broadcasting industry with the Lifetime Achievement Award on Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the annual Canadian Music Industry Awards gala reception, taking place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel.

"'The Chucker' has long been a regal force in the Canadian radio broadcasting industry. He has the distinction of turning around the fortunes of many a flagging station, as evidenced from his first programming stint at CFUN in Vancouver, where as PD, he took this station from "worst to first". His proficient hand and visionary input have cemented his reputation of not only understanding what the public wants but how to deliver it," said Neill Dixon, President, Canadian Music Week.

An able veteran of the broadcasting industry for over 40 years, McCoy began his career as an on-air announcer at CKY Winnipeg in 1965. During the 60's and the 70's, McCoy vigilantly applied his talents to several cities throughout Canada including a six-year stretch at Toronto's Top 40 powerhouse 1050 CHUM.

In the 70's, after taking CFUN to #1, McCoy Program Director, then moved to Winnipeg to serve as Moffat's Communications National Program Director from 1979 to 1986.

After spending four enterprising years as a Program Consultant with Pat Bohn, McCoy joined Rogers as the General Manager for Vancouver stations CKWX and 97 KISS FM. He subsequently moved to Toronto and served as Vice-President and General Manager for CHFI, KISS 92, 680 News and THE FAN 590.

Now the Executive Vice President, Programming and Marketing for all of the Rogers Radio stations across Canada, McCoy has been a staid authority in the business serving as a board member of several industry associations; he was a founding Director of FACTOR, has served on several CAB committees, various CRTC consultative committees, and was Chairman for five years at Radio Starmaker Fund. He was a member of the Board of BBM and currently sits on the BBM, PPM committee.
