Beginning tonight at 11 p.m., CityNews Tonight will extend its half-hour newscast to one hour. Available on Citytv, CityNews Channel, and online at CityNews.ca, the expanded broadcast will keep Torontonians on the pulse of news that matters most with more comprehensive coverage of local, national, and international news. Anchored by Roger Petersen, the new one-hour CityNews Tonight broadcast will rely on its notable personalities to deliver more of the day’s top stories and breaking news, bringing viewers ‘A day in the life of Toronto’ every weeknight – including weather reports from seasoned Meteorologist Adam Stiles and sports from Gemini Award-nominated Sports Anchor Kathryn Humphreys.

“With breaking news occurring throughout the day, there is a demand from viewers for more information from a trusted news team,” said John Hinnen, Vice-President of Television and Radio News, Rogers Media. “By extending our newscast by thirty minutes, Torontonians can end their nights with a broadened look at the day’s top news stories and feel prepared for the day to come.”

CityNews was recently awarded Best Newscast – Large Market by the Radio-Television Digital News Association. Known for its distinct style and exclusive news specials, CityNews airs hour-long newscasts at 5 p.m., 6 p.m., and now 11 p.m. ET every weekday, in addition to hour-long CityNews Weekends newscasts at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET on Saturdays and Sundays.

An encore presentation of CityNews Tonight will air at midnight on CityNews Channel. Also starting today, viewers can watch an encore presentation of CityNews at Six, anchored by Gord Martineau, at 7 p.m. ET on CityNews Channel.
